授業としての具体的到達目標 ／Concrete arrival target as the class	○話の主題や大意を理解するために，多様な読み方ができるようになること ○社会生活上の幅広い場面に対応できる語彙を学び，6,000 語レベルの英文を読んで理解できるようになること
授業の概要 ／Summary of the class	○中核となるリーディングを他の3技能（リスニング，スピーキング，ライティング）と組み合わせながら学び，総合的な英語力の基礎を身につける。 ○様々な文化的背景を持つ人々と平明な英語で伝え合うという，国際共通語としての英語を意識して使えるようになる。

成績評価方法及び採点基準 ／A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard	1. 外部試験の結果：20% 2. Participation（Class activities）：　30% 3. Examination/Presentation/Paper/Project：　30% 4. Assignments/Self-study：　20% 上記を合算して，最終的な成績評価を行います。 ※旧カリキュラムの読み替えとして履修している学生については，外部試験の結果を除いた評価方法（期末試験等）により100 点満点で評価します。
予習及び復習等の内容 ／Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review	Each week students will be required to complete a reading and to participate in the discussion. There are 3 quizzes based on the textbook. You will also be required to complete a final review and presentation.

授業形態・授業方法 ／Class form, class method	In this class, students will actively read material from the textbook and learn how to discuss this in small groups. Students will also have to complete quizzes online using TEAMS. In addition, we will focus on connecting the materials in the textbook to the local world around us through activities and a final paper and presentation.
