The objective of the course is to have students apply what they have learned in the first two levels to real world professional writing, whether related to education or some other professional area. (学び続ける力)
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
The course consists of the students developing their own independent writing projects which are overseen and reviewed by the instructor.

/Contents plan of the class
The content is based on what the students decided, which reflects their professional aims. Each week takes up a different aspect of professional preparation; a sample progression would be:
Week 1: professional / teacher philosophy
Week 2: teaching philosophy: what kind of teacher
Week 3: language philosophy: what is language
Week 4:discipline philosophy: how to work with students
Week 5: why I want to be a teacher: motivation for education
Week 6: why I want to be an English teacher: motivation for English
Week 7: why English is important: understanding purpose
Week 8: what English skills are important: operationalizing purpose
Week 9: use of different teaching methods / tools ①
Week 10: use of different teaching methods / tools ②
Week 11: focus on the learners: an all-around teacher
Week 12: focus on the job: colleagues and parents
Week 13: preparing for group discussions and interviews ①
Week 14: preparing for group discussions and interviews ②
Week 15: final writing
成績評価方法及び採点基準
/A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard
Grades are based on attendance and in-class participation in writing and speaking activities, preparation for class and the final writing project.
Students will be expected to prepare for the class by creating their own ideas and content; in class participation includes making presentations and practicing in interaction and interview activities.

Participation: 60%
Preparation/Final Project: 40%

/Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review
Students have to prepare their ideas about each of the thematic topic areas and be ready to discuss / revise / present these in class.

A set of materials to begin the discussions are provided by the instructor, with additional materials identified, developed and presented individually by students as they require.
