授業としての具体的到達目標 ／Concrete arrival target as the class	〇Understand how to express organic compounds and the mechanism of chemical reactions of organic compounds (ability to see through). 〇Understand the characteristics and properties of organic compounds (ability to solve).
授業の概要 ／Summary of the class	This course covers the structure, stereochemistry, and stereo-chemistry of organic compounds. This course will be the basis for the study of "Bioorganic Chemistry I and II".
授業の内容予定 ／Contents plan of the class	1. Organic Chemistry in Life Sciences (1) (from highlights in the textbook) 2. Chapter 1: Bonding, Lewis structure 3. Exercises for Chapter 1 4. Chapter 2:  Review of kinetics and equilibrium, how to use arrows in chemistry. 5. Chapter 2: Functional groups, nomenclature of organic molecules 6. Exercise for Chapter 2 7. Chapter 3: Bonding of alkanes. What is radical species? 8. Chapter 3: Radical substitution reactions of alkanes 9. Exercises for Chapter 3. 10: Chapter 4: Nomenclature and physical properties of cycloalkanes 11. Chapter 4: Cyclohexane 12. Exercises for Chapter 4 13. Chapter 5: Stereochemistry 14. Chapter 5: Chemistry in configurations. 15. Exercise for Chapter 5 Final Exam
成績評価方法及び採点基準 ／A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard	Evaluation 1: (submission of exercise notes): 40%. Evaluation 2: (final exam): 60%.
予習及び復習等の内容 ／Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review	Please read the textbook before the class. Even if you feel that you understand something during the class, there will be many parts insufficient.  It is recommended that you review and study the end-of-chapter questions by your selves as early as possible to check your understanding.

留意点・予備知識 ／Point to keep in mind, back ground	Organic chemistry is not a subject to be memorized; it is a subject to be understood. There are many end-of-chapter problems in the textbook. Be sure to solve them on your own. (If there is anything you do not understand, do not hesitate to ask questions.) This subject is indispensable in the civil service examinations.
