〇 Students will acquire a comprehensive foundation of English language skills by focusing on reading and writing, and linking them to the content of English Communication A, a class focusing on listening and speaking. 〇 Students will be able to use English as a lingua franca in order to communicate with people of various cultural backgrounds. 〇 Students will acquire the habit of continuing to study proactively throughout your life based on what you have learned in class. |

【Before Class】 Students are expected to solve the Building Vocabulary and Using Vocabulary questions in the Reading section (Assignments) listed in the Class Schedule above. Also, look up the meanings of words that you do not understand while reading the "Reading" part. 【After Class】 Students are expected to review the Assignments in the online workbook (MyELT) that accompanies the textbook in order to master the reading skills learned in class. Please finish all the online workbook exercises by and before the 14th class meetings. 【Self-study】 Attend the English Lounge seminars, conversation practices, and read books at the English Lounge, and submit a written report of your activities. |

Attendance, active participation, and self-study outside classroom are very important for language learning. Therefore, keep the following in mind: 1. Students are expected to attend every class. Students must attend 2/3 of all classes in order to pass. 2. Students should not be late to class. 3. Self-study time outside of class is expected to be twice the time spend in the classroom: 180 minutes of self-study for 90 minutes of class. Study systematically. |

The external exam (VELC Test), which will be included in the grading, will be held on Saturday, July 30. Please make sure to take it. 4.
