授業の概要 ／Summary of the class	○1年次に技能別4科目を学修したことを踏まえ，これらを統合して広く使う力を磨く ○様々な文化的背景を持つ人々と平明な英語で伝え合うという，国際共通語としての英語を意識して使えるようになる
授業の内容予定 ／Contents plan of the class	Week 1: Orientation Section 1: Introduction Week 2: Making introductions and get to know your classmates and teacher Week 3: HULEC CUP 1 (Get to know exchange students and introduce them) Week 4: Preparation for HULEC CUP 2 Week 5: HULEC CUP 2 (Be a tourism ambassador of exchange students’ home countries) Week 6: Describe your favorite Japanese culture with your classmates Week 7: Preparation for HULEC CUP 3 Week 8: HULEC CUP 3 (Japanese culture workshop for exchange students) Section 2: Current issues in Japanese society Week 9: Discussion Week 10: Debate Section 3: Current issues in international relations Week 11: Discussion Week 12: Debate Week 13: Preparation for final paper Week 14: Review and final paper submission Week 15: Final paper presentation and wrap-up. *シラバス内容に変更がある場合は、必ず教員からメールや口頭でお知らせします。 * HULEC CUP (Hirosaki University Liberal Arts English Courses CUP) は、留学生と交流するイベントです。English for Global Communicationの他のクラスと合同で実施します。
成績評価方法及び採点基準 ／A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard	1. Participation (Section 1)：40% 2. Discussion & Debate (Sections 2 and 3)：15%/each = 30% 3. Final paper (400 – 600 words essay)：15% 4. Final paper presentation (3 minutes)：15% 上記を合算して，最終的な成績評価を行います。
予習及び復習等の内容 ／Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review	1. Section 1: Week 2・4・6のトピックに関して、クラスメイトや留学生と英語でやり取りができるように準備をすること。 2. Section 2・3: 興味がある問題や話題について詳しく調査し、データやエヴィデンスを示しながらそのことについてクラスでDiscussionとDebateができるように準備すること。 3. Final paper・Final paper presentation: Section 2か3で取り上げたトピックうち、自分が興味があることについて、Debateでの自らが取った立場からエッセイにまとめ、それについてPresentationすること。

留意点・予備知識 ／Point to keep in mind, back ground	Attendance, active participation, and self-study outside classroom are very important for language learning. Therefore, keep the following in mind: 1. Students are expected to attend every class. Students must attend 2/3 of all classes in order to pass. 2. Students should not be late to class. 3. Self-study time outside of class is expected to be twice the time spend in the classroom: 180 minutes of self-study for 90 minutes of class. Study systematically.
