Class 1 Orientation: Class explanation, get-to-know-you activities Class 2 Unit 5: Watch and Listen Class 3 Unit 5: Listening 1, Language Development Class 4 Unit 5: Critical Thinking, Speaking task Class 5 Unit 6: Watch and Listen Class 6 Unit 6: Listening 2, Language Development Class 7 Unit 6: Critical Thinking, Speaking Task Class 8 Unit 7: Watch and Listen Class 9 Mid-course project (structured small-group discussion on researched topic, peer review in class) Class 10 Unit 7: Listening 1, Language Development Class 11 Unit 7: Critical Thinking, Speaking Task Class 12 Unit 8: Watch and Listen Class 13 Unit 8: Listening 2, Language Development Class 14 Unit 8: Critical Thinking, Speaking Task Class 15 Final project (structured small-group discussion on researched topic, peer review in class) *The syllabus contents may change depending on the class progress. Before Class: Check the class schedule above, read and listen to the content of the next class in advance, and look up the necessary vocabulary and information. After Class: Review the CambridgeOne online workbook and do the assigned tasks for each unit. Self Study: Students are encouraged to use the English Lounge seminars, conversation practice, English books and DVDs, and books and English DVDs from the Academic Commons in the library. English Lounge seminars will be incorporated into self-study of your final grade when you submit an activity report. |

Attendance, active participation, and self-study outside classroom are very important for language learning. Therefore, keep the following in mind: 1. Students are expected to attend every class. Students must attend 2/3 of all classes in order to pass. 2. Students should not be late to class. 3. Self-study time outside of class is expected to be twice the time spend in the classroom: 180 minutes of self-study for 90 minutes of class. Study systematically. |
