授業としての具体的到達目標
/Concrete arrival target as the class
〇Be able to express yourself by reading and understanding what others are saying about familiar topics (interests, experiences, personal goals, etc.), local and global issues, etc.
〇 To be able to communicate with various people with different cultural backgrounds through activities such as interviews, and to be able to ask for further explanations on what you do not understand.
〇 Critical Thinking = learning how to think critically and being able to express  own opinions considering different points of view
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
〇 Acquire the basics of comprehensive English proficiency, focusing on listening and speaking, while linking it with the learning content of "English Communication C", which focuses on reading and writing.
〇Be able to use English as an international common language in order to communicate with people from various cultural backgrounds.
〇 Based on what you have learned in class, acquire the habit of continuing to study proactively for the rest of your life.

成績評価方法及び採点基準
/A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard
1. External test results: 20% Saturday, July 29th
2. Participation (Class activities): 30%
3. Examination/Presentation/Paper/Project: 30%
4. Assignments/Self-study: 20%
The above will be added up to give the final grade evaluation.
予習及び復習等の内容
/Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review
Before Class:
Familiarize yourself with the contents of the next class based on the schedule above.

After Class:
Complete all assigned tasks, including in the CambridgeOne digital workbook to reinforce the unit lessons. Watch the pre-recorded lecture and follow instructions for next class.

Self-study:
Use the resources of the English Lounge (seminars, foreign-student conversation partners, English DVDs) and Library Academic Commons (English DVDs) to practice listening/speaking skills. Consult with English Lounge teachers for additional advice on classwork and English study.

/Point to keep in mind, back ground
Attendance, active participation, and self-study outside classroom are very important for language learning. Therefore, keep the following in mind:
1. Students are expected to attend every class. Students must attend 2/3 of all classes in order to pass.
2. Students should not be late to class.
3. Self-study time outside of class is expected to be twice the time spend in the classroom: 180 minutes of self-study for 90 minutes of class. Study systematically.

2. You must purchase the textbook from the University Co-op.
3. The standardized exam (VELC Test) will be held on July 29 (Sat). It is mandatory and will count for 20% of your grade for this class.
