1. To understand the SDGs issues in the international community and the meaning of environmental, social, and economic problems in basic English.
2. To understand and communicate the necessity of international cooperation that can be done from everyday life and the issues involved in its implementation in basic English.
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
* This course is applicable for credits in the minor "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Education Program"*
〇Acquire basic knowledge of the contents of the 17 items of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for the year 2030, and increase awareness of the various issues facing modern society; understand and communicate in English through CLIL (content language integrated learning).
〇Deepen one's thinking about what kinds of activities can be conceived, planned, and implemented at the level of international organizations, nations, domestic organizations, and individuals, and engage in group discussions (at a beginner level of English).
〇As an midterm project, students will give an oral presentation on the theme of the final project; as a final project, they will select 1~2 SDGs issues from the textbook and give individual or group presentations in English (ata beginner level English).

予習及び復習等の内容
/Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review
〇Refer to the above schedule for each session as instructed by the instructor, read and do the textbook exerciases; watch the video for the next class in the textbook in advance, and look up necessary vocabulary and information.
〇 Conduct research for the project and present it as a midterm and final project.
〇 Review the content of the previous course, and write a reflection paper.
〇 Actively exchange opinions and ask questions in class; also using Teams message, e-mail as well as outside the class.
〇We recommend that you take seminars in the English Lounge, practice conversations, read English books and watch English DVDs. English Lounge seminars will be incorporated into your grade if you submit an activity repo
ort (available at the English Lounge.)

〇In the midterm project, students will conduct research on the SDG issues in which they are most interested as a preliminary assignment for the final project; prepare an oral presentation.
〇In the final project, students will give a group or individual presentation in English on the SDG issues they have researched in the midterm project.
〇Students will study English in parallel with the content as an integrated content-language learning method.
〇The credits earned in this course are applicable for the minor "Sustainable Development Goals SDGs Education Program".
〇International students on exchange programs and undergraduate programs studying at Hirosaki University are also welcome to take the course.
