授業の概要／Summary of the class	In this class, you will learn to set learning goals, develop a learning plan, and practice self-evaluation as an independent learner. Your sustainable study plan will be based on guidance from an advising faculty member as well as your classmates. In order to become a lifelong and independent learner, you must be able to (1) set learning goals, (2) create a study plan, carry it out, and monitor your progress, and (3) self evaluate and adjust your plan accordingly. Class will primarily be taught in English.

As this is an autonomous-learning class, in order to secure enough time for independent study, meetings in the classroom may be cut short. Task-based Point System: Use English Lounge (EL) seminar, etc., to earn at least 10 points (tentative) per week, based on the plan set with your advisor, plus a short weekly reflection. Example: 　　EL Seminar (1x 60 min) = 3 points 　　EL Forum (1x 60 min) = 4 points 　　EL Conversation circle (60 minutes and a report) 3 points 　　Extensive Reading (60 minutes and a report) 3 points 　　Student-decided activities matched with advisor-decided points ＊Any changes to the syllabus will be communicated during the semester.
成績評価方法及び採点基準／A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard	Class participation 30% Portfolio (learning plan and execution) 40% Mid-term and final reports 30%
予習及び復習等の内容／Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review	【Preview】 Think carefully about yourself as a learner. 【Review】 Actively work toward your own learning goals. 【Self-study】 Be sure to actively use the learning resources available at Hirosaki University and find new learning methods and facilities. Also be interested in learning off-campus and working with online learning resources.
