This class explores language from many different perspectives. First, students will learn about the Japanese language, then about the history of the English language, and finally they will be introduced to various topics related to cognitive linguistics.

Week 1: Introduction to the class – Kohri, Birdsell, Jagno (Interactive online class using Teams) *Tada and Katagiri will provide language assistance.

Week 2: A historical look at the English language, cultural history | Jagno & Katagiri (English) (Interactive online class using Teams)

Week 3: A historical look at the English language, linguistic history | Jagno & Katagiri (English) (Interactive online class using Teams)

Week 4: The English language today - World Englishes | Jagno & Katagiri (English) (Interactive online class using Teams)
