授業の内容予定 ／Contents plan of the class	Week 1: Orientation Section 1: Introduction Week 2: Making introductions and get to know your classmates and teacher Week 3: HULEC CUP 1 (Get to know international students and introduce them) Week 4: Describe your favorite Japanese culture with your classmates Week 5: Preparation for HULEC CUP 2 Week 6: HULEC CUP 2 (Japanese culture workshop for international students) Week 7: HULEC CUP 3 (Culture workshop by international students) Section 2: Current issues in Japanese society Week 8: Discussion Week 9: Debate Section 3: Current issues in international relations Week 10: Discussion Week 11: Debate 1 Week 12: Debate 2 Week 13: Preparation for final paper Week 14: Review and final paper submission Week 15: Final paper presentation and wrap-up *シラバス内容に変更がある場合は、必ず教員からメールや口頭でお知らせします。* HULEC CUP (Hirosaki University Liberal Arts English Courses CUP) は、留学生と交流するイベントです。English for Global Communicationの他のクラスと合同で実施します。
成績評価方法及び採点基準 ／A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard	1. Participation (Section 1)：40% 2. Discussion & Debate (Sections 2 and 3)：15%/each = 30% 3. Final paper (500 words essay)：15% 4. Final paper presentation (3 minutes)：15% 上記を合算して，最終的な成績評価を行います。
予習及び復習等の内容 ／Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review	You will be required to do the reading/watching the video prior to class. There are 3 sections in this class where students will work in groups and at the end of each section, each group will do a group presentation that summarizes their discussions. There also will be 3 pop quizzes based on the readings/videos. You will also be required to complete a final research paper.
教材・教科書 ／The teaching materials, textbook	1. Section 1: HULEC CUP 1-3のトピックに関して、クラスメイトや留学生と英語でやり取りができるように準備をすること。 2. Section 2・3: 興味がある問題や話題について詳しく調査し、データやエヴィデンスを示しながらそのことについてクラスでDiscussionとDebateができるように準備すること。 3. Final paper・Final paper presentation: Section 2か3で取り上げたトピックうち、自分が興味があることについて、Debateでの自らが取った立場からエッセイにまとめ、それについてPresentationすること。
