◯ To understand the latest research results on animal evolution, which cut across the three perspectives of "ecology," "embryology," and "reproduction." ◯ Discuss the next generation of biological research. |
授業の概要 /Summary of the class |
Recent developments in molecular biology allowed the fusion of developmental biology and evolutionary biology, creating a new discipline called 'EvoDevo'. The evolutionary theory that began with Darwin's "The Origin of Species" is no longer a theory, but a study of solid facts. The objective evidence (commonality) engraved in the gene, which is the blueprint of life, certainly demonstrated that the organisms were given rised from a monophyletic evolution. When we consider the studies following the success of EvoDevo that unraveles evolution from the genome, we can expect the era of molecular evolution ecology ('EvoEco') to unravel evolution from the behavior of the organism itself. In this course, students will understand the findings of recent research on evolution from the three perspectives of "ecology", "developmental biology" and "reproductive biology" and discuss next-generation biological research. |
