授業としての具体的到達目標
/Concrete arrival target as the class
Students will learn general staining (HE and KB staining) and observation techniques of the central nervous system.
Students will master immunostaining (ABC method) and observation techniques of the CNS.
Students will learn how to prepare electron microscopy specimens of the central nervous system and observe them.
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
Students will practice preparation of autopsy specimens from cerebrospinal tissues, staining methods, optical and electron microscopy, and approaches to pathological diagnosis in order to gain knowledge of the pathological picture and pathomechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, cerebral infarction, brain tumors, inflammation, and immune and demyelinating diseases covered in neuropathology.

/Contents plan of the class
Part 1-2: Methods and theory of general staining of the central nervous system (HE and KB staining)
Part 3-4: Observation of general stained specimens of the CNS
Part 5-6: Methods and theory of immunostaining of the central nervous system (ABC method)
Part 7-8: Observation of immunostained specimens of the central nervous system
Part 9-12: Methods and theory of preparation of electron microscopy specimens of the CNS
Part 13-15: Observation and preparation of electron microscopy specimens of the central nervous system
成績評価方法及び採点基準
/A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard
Evaluation will be based on the class Q&A session (50 points) and an oral examination (50 points).

Preparation is required for the case presentations for which you have been assigned.
