授業としての具体的到達目標
/Concrete arrival target as the class
• To acquire the practical skills needed for conducting fieldwork.
• To develop the ability to explore and investigate Aomori’s regional society and natural environment through on-site field research
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
• We will explore the lives and roles of people involved in local folk performing arts and festivals, with a focus on Aomori Prefecture.
• By adopting perspectives grounded in the viewpoints of the practitioners themselves, students will deepen their understanding of the meanings, social functions, values, and ways of thinking embedded in these cultural practices within each region.
• We will examine folk performing arts and festivals as cultural practices that exist within the everyday lives of local communities, paying attention to how they are inherited and performed, as well as the meanings, values, appeal, challenges, and future prospects recognized by the people involved.
• Students will learn to relativize their own assumptions about music and the body as shaped by contemporary everyday life.
• The course will primarily use video and audio materials to present on-site situations and introduce case studies from various regions.
• Students will also learn about fieldwork methods by engaging with research approaches used by the instructor in previous studies conducted across different areas.
• The course includes experiential learning of Tsugaru-region festival music and dance movements, along with musical analysis of festival music.
International students are welcome to participate.
