授業としての具体的到達目標
/Concrete arrival target as the class
- To understand the principles of methods used to analyze gene expression.
- To perform gene expression analysis using quantitative PCR (qPCR) and acquire the associated analytical skills.
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
Students will isolate RNA from biological materials and perform quantitative analysis of mRNA levels using real-time PCR (qPCR). The course also covers the theoretical background of the method and introduces statistical approaches for analyzing experimental data.

成績評価方法及び採点基準
/A scholastic evaluation method and marking standard
Participation and engagement: 50%
Report assignment: 50%
Final grades will be determined based on the overall performance in the above components.
The direct copying of text or figures generated by AI is prohibited in report assignments. If any concerns arise, the content may be reviewed in person, and the outcome of this review may be reflected in the final grade.
予習及び復習等の内容
/Contents such as preparations for lessons and the review
Students are expected to review prior undergraduate lectures and exercises related to gene expression and methods for its analysis. They should also prepare basic statistical concepts, such as how to calculate standard deviation and how to perform a t-test.
Estimated time required for preparation and review: 30 hours.
