授業としての具体的到達目標
/Concrete arrival target as the class
〇 Develop a deep understanding of the effects of various biotic stresses on plant metabolism, growth, development, and yield.
〇 Understand the scientific basis underlying approaches to improving plant stress tolerance.
〇 Enhance the ability to analyze and critically evaluate scientific literature, write scientific texts, and improve communication skills.
授業の概要
/Summary of the class
In nature, including in agriculture, plants and crops often have to cope with environmental stress. Abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, flooding, salinity, and toxic metals affect the fundamental functions of organisms and cause damage to physiology, development, and productivity.
Global climate change is expected to further exacerbate the impacts of these stresses. In this course, students will learn about the molecular, physiological, developmental, and morphological traits that enable plants to adapt to environmental stresses, and will discuss strategies to improve stress tolerance in crops.

Class participation (20%): Attendance, engagement in class, and completion of assignments
Report/presentation (80%)
Regarding the use of generative AI in class, only supplementary use for information gathering and problem-solving is permitted. Within classes and activities, it may be used only when the instructor specifically instructs students to do so. Uses in which AI is entrusted with the entire process—such as having it write the entire report—are not permitted.
