授業としての具体的到達目標 /Concrete arrival target as the class |
〇Have an in-depth understanding of the impact of various abiotic stresses on plant metabolism, growth, development and yield. 〇Understand scientific basis behind approaches for improving plant stress tolerance. 〇Improve ability to analyze and critique the scientific literature, reading and communication skills. |
|
授業の概要 /Summary of the class |
In nature, including in agriculture, plants or crops often have to cope with environmental stresses. Abiotic stresses including drought, heat, flooding, salinity, and toxic metals affect the basic functions of organisms and causes damage to physiology, development and productivity. Global climate changes are expected to exacerbate the impact of stresses even further. This course provides the molecular, physiological, developmental and morphological characteristics that plants use to adapt to environmental stresses, as well as discuss strategies for improving stress tolerance in crops. |

Participation and Attendance (20%): Includes class participation and completion of assignments Report (80%) Regarding the use of generative AI in class, only supplementary use for information gathering and problem-solving is permitted. Within classes and activities, it may be used only when the instructor specifically instructs students to do so. Uses in which AI is entrusted with the entire process—such as having it write the entire report—are not permitted. |
